Step By Step Instructions For Alternate Uses Of Nail Polish Wraps

There are many ways you can incorporate your wraps in any mani! Gel, acrylic, dip power, or even regular nail polish.

Here are how I recommend they be used with the different methods step by step...

Gel Users -

  • Prep nail by removing shine from natural nail. Be gentle so that you don't damage your nails.
  • Apply PH bond to help dehydrate nail.
  • Apply base gel and cure fully.
  • Apply desired color to nail or a no wipe top coat and fully cure. (You may also use a builder gel in place of a color gel or top coat) Your wrap will not adhere properly if there is a sticky layer on your nail!
  • Apply desired wrap to nail and make sure the wrap is NOT touching your cuticle line or skin. The wrap must have a small can to properly seal for longer lasting wear.
  • After applying the wrap you will then want to gently stretch over the end of your nail. Using the nail file provided, in a downward motion file your nail to remove excess polish. It is important to file downward to prevent dust from getting trapped under your wrap.
  • Apply no wipe gel top coat, making sure to cap the free edge of your nail and cure fully.

Apply gel top coat as needed. Remember, gel needs a rough layer to stick to so you may find that your gel peels and this is completely normal, just reapply your top coat to freshen your mani!

Dip Users (Encapsulation Method with DIP top coat)-

  • Prep nail by gently removing shine from nail
  • Wipe nails with alcohol or acetone and remove any dust or debris and to also help dehydrate the nail.
  • Dip nail once or twice in desired color.
  • Activate.
  • Gently buff nail to smooth out nail for smoother application.
  • Activate and apply dip top coat.
  • Once dip top coat is dry, apply your desired wrap and smooth out
  • Remove excess wrap by filing in downward motion.
  • Apply two layers of clear dip.
  • Activate.
  • File and buff.
  • Dip top coat

Always follow directions of the brand dip liquids you are using. Some require activator after buffing to ensure the dip top coat dries. Some do not require activator. Each brand varies so be sure to follow those instructions and adjust our directions accordingly.

Remember that not all nail polishes are created equal. Some may cause wraps to shrink or warp. Some of our favorite brands that we have found that don't cause these issues are Sally Hansen Miracle Gel, Orly Polishes, and Maniology Polishes. We are all still learning as well go so if you find something that works well please let us know so we can update our list! :)
